Westmeath teams kept apart in Leinster Colleges SF 'A' draw

Moate Community School, Athlone Community College and Colaiste Mhuire, Mullingar have been kept apart in the Leinster Colleges SF 'A' quarter-final draw. Having comprehensively defeated St Joseph's, Rocfortbridge in the second round, Moate's reward is a quarter-final tie against St Peter's, Wexford. Moate are viewed as strong contenders for the Leinster title but they will be wary of St Peter's, who knocked out St Pat's of Navan in the next round. This game will be played at a neutral venue. Athlone CC will have home advantage in Páirc Chiaráin when they take on a highly rated St Mary's, Edenderry. Athlone have recorded two wins on away soil in the opening two rounds, defeating Kildare sides Salesian College, Celbridge, and Patrician, Newbridge (1-8 to 1-6, after extra-time). Edenderry have defeated Marist College, Athlone and Ardscoil na Trionoide, Athy (2-6 to 0-4) en route to the quarter-finals. Colaiste Mhuire, Mullingar, overcame Colaiste Iosagain, Portarlington on a scoreline of 2-12 to 1-8 on Tuesday (January 31) and will now meet Colaiste Eoin of Dublin. If Moate CS and Colaiste Mhuire win their respective quarter-finals, they will meet in the semi-finals. When the draw was made, the quarter-finals were provisionally fixed for Saturday February 11, but the fixture details have yet to be confirmed. Leinster Colleges SFC 'A' quarter-finals 1.
