THERE were wins for both Willow Park and St Peter's in the opening round of the FAI Junior Cup last weekend.

St Peter's saw-off Combined Counties Football League rivals Killavilla Utd (see this week's Westmeath Independent for match report), while Willow comfortably disposed of Castle Villa from Kildare (7-1).

Unfortunately, Melville Utd couldn't progress, losing narrowly at home to Ferris Utd. Mullingar Athletic also progressed to the next round (see CCFL Fixtures and Results in this week's Westmeath Independent).

All teams in this year's FAI Junior Cup are bidding for the privilege of contesting the 2012/13 cup final at the AVIVA Stadium in Dublin.
