Henshaw's year gets better and better.

Henshaw's year capped with Connacht Player of the Year award

ROBBIE Henshaw’s fantastic progress in the world of rugby took yet another positive step last weekend, when the Athlone native received the Connacht Senior Team Player of the Year award at the province’s annual awards dinner in the Radisson Blu Galway Hotel on Saturday night.

Over 400 people attended the event which saw awards presented to players, coaches and volunteers across a range of categories.

The cream of Connacht’s underage talent kicked-off the ceremony followed by awards for junior and senior clubs and players, and the evening was rounded-off with the player’s awards.

Kieran Marmion was named Connacht Young Player of the Year, while 19 year-old Henshaw picked up the award for Connacht Senior Player of the Year.
The award came shortly after Connacht completed their RaboDirect Pro12 League campaign with a home defeat against Glasgow Warriors.

Much of focal point of the evening was the celebration of outgoing head coach Eric Elwood, who gave Henshaw his break in the Connacht first-team this season.
