Moate CS to renew rivalry with St Pat's of Navan

By Kieran Galvin

Moate Community School have been handed a very tough assignment in the second round of the Leinster Schools SF 'A' championship - with the draw pitting them against holders St Pat's, Navan.

To make the task even more difficult for Moate CS, the Navan side will have home advantage.

Moate defeated Clonkeen College in the opening round last week, while St Pat's had a bye into round two. Now Peter Tormey's charges must face the Leinster champions with a quarter-final place at stake.

Meanwhile, Marist College will host Castleknock CC at an Athlone venue. The Marist defeated Maynooth P.P. on Thursday of last week.

Athlone Community College had a bye in the opening round and they must travel to face Wicklow Schools in the second round. That game has been provisionally listed for Baltinglass. Wicklow Schools recorded a 1-17 to 1-10 win over Dundalk Schools in the opening round.

St Joseph's, Rochfortbridge will face Ardscoil na Trionoide, Athy, while the other Westmeath team in the competition - Col Mhuire, Mullingar - will take on St Peter's Wexford.

Round 2 games are scheduled for Saturday, February 1 at 2pm – unless alternative dates and times are agreed by schools.
