Golf news moriarty triumphs at ulster championship

ATHLONE’s Colm Moriarty is the newly crowned champion of the Ulster Championship

The local golfer saw off a highly competitive field to triumph in the HBE Risk Management PGA Ulster Championship yesterday (Thursday).

Moriaty set a new course record of 65 at Templepatrick on Wednesday, and sealed his victory having hit a hugely satisfactory round of 70 yesterday, leaving the Glasosn Golf & Country Club player at nine under par and seven shots clear of the field. Mullingar’s James Quinlivan finished the event in joint 30th.
