Roddy collins wont be back to athlone

Any lingering hopes that Roddy Collins might be returning to the helm at Athlone Town have been firmly quashed with the Dubliner's appointment as the Waterford United boss confirmed this lunchtime.

In a statement today, Waterford United confirmed that Roddy Collins has been appointed as first team manager.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be joining the club,” Collins said. “It is an opportunity that I couldn’t turn down. This is a massive job and one I’m really looking forward to.'

It's understood that Collins was contacted by Athlone Town FC officials following the departure of Eddie Wallace.
