Lecarrow to host Irish amateur soccer international next week

John Sherlock Park in Lecarrow is to host an amateur soccer international between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland next week.

The friendly fixture will take place at the South Roscommon venue on Wednesday next, September 14, with a 7pm kick-off.

The Republic's players are looking forward to the game in the excellent facilities at Lecarrow and they are hoping to get good local support in what will be their final game before departure to the UEFA Regions Cup.

Manager Gerry Davis will draft in Gary Neville (Pike Rovers) in place of Brendan O’Connell, who has work commitments, and local lad Dominic Bligh (Castlerea Celtic) will come in to replace Christoper Higgins.

Northern Ireland are only starting their preparations prior to their qualifying round in November and the game should provide a good workout for both teams.
