Another county title for Brigid's

St Brigid's claimed their 15th county senior football title after a seven-point win over Padraig Pearses in Kiltoom yesterday.

Two late goals proved vital for the Brigid's men, who had led by three points at the break. Two goals in the second half brought Pearses back into it, but the eventual winners replied with their own brace in the closing stages to seal the win by 2-14 to 2-7.

The sides were level just six minutes from the end but goals from Ian Kilbride and Darragh Donnelly paved the way to victory.

It was Brigid's' ninth championship win since 2005 and they now face Aughawillan from Leitrim in the Connacht semi-final.

It was Pearses' - managed by former Brigid's player Shane Curran - second final defeat in a row, after they lost by a solitary point to Clann na nGael in last year's decider.
