McManus among nominees in FAI international awards
Carla McManus is one of three nominees for the Ireland under-16 women's international player of the year award.
Carla, who lives in Moate and is a student at Our Lady's Bower in Athlone, is nominated in the U-16 category along with Megan Mackey and Tyler Toland.
Earlier this week, McManus was part of the Ireland U-17 team which beat Serbia 1-0 in the first of three UEFA European Championship Elite Round qualifiers.
A former Bealnamulla player, now with Peamount United, Carla enjoyed a rich vein of goalscoring form last year.
Carla (a daugher of Louise and Philip McManus) was recently among the winners in the Westmeath Independent Sports Awards, along with international colleagues Heather Payne and Chloe Singleton.
Meanwhile, Westmeath's Lucy McCartan has been nominated for the award of under-19 women's international player of the year. Lucy from Mullingar is also a talented Gaelic footballer and has featured for the Westmeath senior ladies in this year's League campaign.
The 2016 'Three' FAI International Football Awards ceremony will take place in the RTE Studios this Sunday, March 19. This year's ceremony - the 27th overall - has been extended to an hour and a half with live coverage on RTE2 from 8pm where the nominees will be joined by special guests and the Republic of Ireland men's senior squad.
The recipients of the 'Hall of Fame' and 'International Personality' awards will be revealed on the night of the ceremony, while Dundalk FC have been selected as winners of the 'Special Merit Award' following their terrific season in 2016.
