Willow Park to face Leeside trip after win over Orchard

WILLOW Park continued their FAI Junior Cup campaign with a hard-fought 2-0 victory away to Orchard Utd in Ballyfermot last Friday - and have been rewarded with a 7th Round (last 16) clash away to Leeside in Cork. Goals from Aidan Hyland and Benny Magennis ensured safe passage to the next round for Tony O'Sullivan's side, who now face a potentially very tricky trip to Leeside, who themselves beat Freebooters (Kilkenny) in the sixth round last weekend. Followers of local football will be hoping Willow Park can continue their great form this season and come away from Leeside with another victory, as they bid to eclipse St Peter's wonderful achievement of reaching the FAI Junior Cup final last season. Indeed, this year's competition seems to have opened up even further, after St Peter's conquerors in last year's final, Ballymun Utd, were eliminated by Clonmel Town at the weekend. Willow Park manager Tony O'Sullivan said: "We're pleased to come through a tough game against Orchard and are looking forward to the next round. We have big ambitions this season and going as far as possible in the FAI Junior Cup is high on our agenda. Leeside are doing well in the Cork AUL League and are a very physical side, but we're capable of beating anybody at this level on our day." Willow are unbeaten in all competitions so far this season and are also the current Combined Counties League champions. Their involvement in several cup competitions this continues apace this coming weekend when they entertain Park Celtic (Loughlinstown, Dublin) in the fifth round of Leinster Junior Cup (Sunday, Willow Park, 2pm). Park Celtic operate in the Leinster Senior League Premier Sunday and beat Confey 1-0 in the last round. Willow Park crushed Knocklyon 5-0 in the fourth round and will have home advantage against Sandyhill if they prove successful on Sunday.
