The FAI Summer Soccer Schools for the Athlone District Schoolboy/Girl League was launched by Athlone Town captain Noel McGee and FAI Community Development Officer, Paul Osam in the Athlone Town Stadium.

The FAI Summer Soccer Schools are now a mainstay of the Irish summer but have extra attraction this year as Ireland takes its place in the European Championship Finals. The FAI Camps, in association with the ADSL, boast action packed days of top-quality coaching for boys and girls aged from 6 to 14 years by FAI accredited and Garda vetted coaches.

All participants receive an eFlow FAI Summer Soccer Schools full Umbro playing kit, a backpack and football, along with a certificate at the end of the week.

Athlone and the ADSL will host the full range of camps all to be held in the magnificent facilities of Athlone Institute of Technology.

The mainstream camp takes place over five days from Monday the 2nd to Friday the 6th of July and is for boys and girls aged 6 - 14 from 10.00am to 3.00pm each day. The focus is on coaching, fun games and mini-tournaments.

The ADSL will also host a dedicated Goalkeeper Camp over three days from the 10th to the 12th July which will focus on the unique role of the goalkeeper and incorporates goalkeeper-specific coaching and fun games as we look for the next Shay Given!

The ADSL will also pioneer one of the few and new Girls-Only Camps in the country. This Camp runs independently from the mainstream camps and has its very own, exclusive Girls-Only Camp playing kit. Boys and girls are of course welcome on the mainstream camp but the Girls-Only Camp recognises that sometimes girls prefer to be coached and play amongst their female peers. The ADSL Girls-Only Camp takes place in the Athlone Institute of Technology over five days from Monday 6th August to Friday 10th August 2012.
