Local soccer player called into Ireland schools' squad

Athlone Community College student Eoin McCormack will be part of the Republic of Ireland schools’ international squad that takes on England tonight (Friday) in their final game of this year’s Centenary Shield.

Northern Ireland, who were unbeaten in their four games, are already crowned champions of this year’s tournament.

The Republic of Ireland lost their opening fixture to Northern Ireland but have since recovered well, beating both Scotland and Wales.
McCormack, a member of Athlone Town’s successful U19 team, is an attcking player and will hope to feature at some stage at Turner’s Cross, Cork tonight (kick-off: 7pm).
