Crowley's return to Knockcroghery
Legendary Cork balladeer and song collector, Jimmy Crowley will perform in concert in Culleen Hall, Knockcroghery, on Friday, August 28 next in the first of a series of concerts being organised by South Roscommon Singers Circle.
Jimmy was a guest of The Circle, in Murray's, earlier this year when he told us of the Crowley's' Roscommon ancestry and was keen to return to perform in 'concert format' rather than the less formal setting of The Circle.
Jimmy says he will never forget that visit and the hospitality he received here - from Murray's Bar to Gleeson's Town House and all people and places in between. 'The bard of the roads', in fact, is so proud of his Roscommon connection that he is about to disclose all to the people of Cork through his regular feature, 'Songs of Cork', in that city's Evening Echo newspaper.
