Glasson land sells for over €13,000 per acre

Twenty two acres of residential farm land and a one-bedroom cottage in Kilkenny West, Glasson, recently sold for €300,000 following a public auction on June 11 last. Bidding on the day in Farrell's, Glasson, began at €150,000 and five interested parties brought it to the €260,000 mark before it was withdrawn for negotiations. The land, with extensive road frontage and olde world style cottage subsequently sold afterwards for €300,000 to a solicitor acting in trust for a client. "There was a lot of interest in that land," according to Mullingar-based auctioneer James Murtagh. "It's was a fair price per acre in these times, coming in at €13,636 per acre. Land is selling well at the moment especially smaller parcels," he concluded.
