St Peter’s v Castlerea clash to be ‘behind closed doors’

The Roscommon & District FL Premier Division title decider between St Peter’s and Castlerea Celtic will be played behind closed doors.

St Peter’s need to win the game in order to retain the Premier Division crown, while a draw would be enough for Castlerea to be declared league champions.

“As a club we have decided due to Covid-19 and proper protocols with policing social distancing, and with contact tracing being an issue, we have taken the tough decision to play the game behind closed doors,” said a statement posted online today (Wednesday) by St Peter’s FC.

The Athlone club has informed both Castlerea Celtic and the RDFL of their decision.

The match will be played on Saturday week, July 18 and, with fans not allowed to attend on the evening, St Peter’s are hoping to show it live on Facebook.
