May Greene (née Grenham), Oldtown, Athlone, Roscommon

The death has occurred of May Greene (née Grenham), America, Oldtown, Athlone, Roscommon/Ballinasloe, Galway, on Saturday, October 3, peacefully in her 85th year in the loving care of Nuala and all the staff of Hillside Nursing Home, Aughrim. Beloved wife of the late Jimmy. Dearly beloved mother of Prof Richard Greene (Cork), Chrissie (Kelly), Mary Greene (Dublin), Michael, Patrick and Kenneth (New York), daughters-in-law Anne, Josephine, Marie and Suzanne and son-in-law Paddy, her brother Tom (Athlone), sisters Anna, Sr. Bridie (Dublin) and Kathleen (Athy) and sisters-in-law Maureen, Mary and Anne, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a wide circle of good friends and great neighbours.

Due to the current Covid-19 situation, May’s funeral will be private to family only please.

Josephine (Josie) Darcy, Kilgarvin, Fardrum, Athlone.

Josephine died on October 3, peacefully in her 93rd year, in the loving care of the Nursing Staff at Stella Maris Nursing Home, Athlone. She is fondly known as Josie and is predeceased by her beloved husband James and sisters Kitty, Eileen and Bridie. Josie will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her loving daughter Pauline (Eagney), sons P.J. and John, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, son-in-law John, daughters-in-law Ann and Samira, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.

In the interest of public health, Josie's funeral will be private. The family thank you for your support and understanding at this difficult time

Removal on Monday morning (October 5) to St Colmcille's Church, Ballinahown for Requiem Mass at 12 noon. (Max 50 people). Interment afterwards in Clonmacnois. Friends and neighbours are welcome to stand along the route, in the church grounds and cemetery while following social distancing rules.

Dan Naughton, Ballinasloe/Dysart, Roscommon

The death occurred on Friday, October 2, of Dan Naughton Togher, Ballinasloe, and formerly of Turrock, Dysart, Co, Roscommon. Peacefully, in the Galway Hospice surrounded by his devoted family, Predeceased by his sisters Mary Dwyer and Josephine Melody. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Mary, son Pádraig (Dublin), daughter-in-law Avril, grandchildren Grace and Christina, sister Sr. Joseph (Rome, Italy), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

In keeping with current guidelines, Dan’s funeral Mass takes place in St. Patrick’s Church, Dysart, on Monday morning at 11.30am, but will be private to his family and close friends. Private burial afterwards in Dysart Cemetery.

Shane Kelly, Mayfield Grove/Parnell Square, Athlone

The death occurred of Shane Kelly, Mayfield Grove/Parnell Square, Athlone, unexpectedly on Thursday, October 1. Predeceased by his younger brother Paul. Sadly missed by his loving fiancé Ruth, sons Teddy and Adam, daughters Laura and Katie, granddaughter Maisie, parents Rosemary and TJ., brothers Alan, Gene and Terry, sisters Tracey and Jackie, in-laws, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions and by adhering to government guidelines, a private funeral will take place for Shane for family members and close friends only.

Thomas Conroy, St Columba’s Terrace, Athlone

Suddenly, at his residence, on Thursday, October 1. Predeceased by his father Tom. Deeply regretted by his mother Bridget, sisters Annemarie and Martina, brothers-in-law, nephews, niece, good friend Dessie Kelly, relatives and many friends.

Due to the risk posed by Covid-19, Mass for Thomas will be private to family and close friends. Funeral Mass on Monday in St Mary's Church, at 10.30am, burial afterwards in Cornamagh Cemetery. Brenda Deegan (née McDonnell), Birr, formerly Ballinasloe

The death has occurred of Brenda Deegan (née McDonnell) Military Rd., Crinkle, Birr and formerly Ballinasloe, Co. Galway, October 3, peacefully. Predeceased by her sons Michael and Damien and her father James, she will be forever missed by her loving husband Michael, son Diarmuid, daughters Davnet, Áine and Mhuiré, sons in law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, mother Vera, sisters Merlon and Yvonne (all in Ballinasloe) and Ursula in County Clare, brothers Declan, Jim and Micháel (all in Ballinasloe),brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at her daughter Davnet’s house (Barrack St., Crinkle) for family and close friends. Funeral to arrive at St. Brendan’s Church, Birr, on Monday at 10.45am for Funeral Mass at 11am, followed by burial in Clonoghill Cemetery, Birr.
