New appointment for Superintendent with local connections

A high-ranking Garda with strong local connections has been appointed to the top policing job in Offaly's county town.

Superintendent Eamon Curley, who was based in Athlone for many years, will head up the Tullamore Garda District in the latest round of promotions announced by An Garda Síochána today (November 18).

It was only in July of last year that Eamon Curley was first appointed Superintendent in the Leixlip District in Kildare, having spent time as an Inspector in Portlaoise, and many years prior to that as a Detective Sergeant in Athlone.

The new appointments took effect on Tuesday, November 16 last.
