Wayne Rooney has said he thinks Aitch has been “outstanding” on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, and says he hopes the rapper will win the show this year.

Speaking on ITV’s Good Morning Britain (GMB), the former Manchester United footballer said Aitch, real name Harrison Armstrong, has his support, as he roots for the rapper to be crowned this year’s King of the Jungle.

Rooney, whose wife Coleen came second on the show last year, said: “I want to come on and give Aitch my support – he’s been outstanding.”

“I hope Aitch will do it this year,” he added, when asked who he is backing to win the show.

Rooney also reflected on his wife’s experience on the show, and said: “Speaking to Coleen, it is tough and it is real out there.”

He added: “She really enjoyed it – she loved her time in there. It gave her really great memories.”

The 40-year-old said he is “really good mates” with Aitch and another contestant, social media star Ginge, real name Morgan Burtwistle.

He told GMB that his wife offered the pair advice before they entered the jungle.

Rooney said: “She gave them a few tips.

“It was little things – like, when you go to the toilet empty your water bottle out so they give you fresh water.”

Speaking about Aitch, he said: “I like that he’s shown his leadership skills. And last night, he got emotional. It’s good to see that he’s vulnerable and missing his family.”

“You do see a different side to everyone in there,” Rooney added.

He also said: “I like when Aitch and Ginge go off and have their little chats. It’s probably the closest they can get to home.”

Monday night’s episode saw the third contestant voted out of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

Irish presenter Vogue Williams said she was “sad to leave” the ITV reality show, as she left the camp.

Williams’s departure comes after comedian Eddie Kadi was voted out on Sunday and sports broadcaster Alex Scott was voted off on Friday night.
