Local GAA clubs kick off All Star programmes

Two local GAA clubs have kicked off their All Star programmes last weekend.

Both Athlone GAA and Garrycastle GAA welcomed members new and old to participate in their All Star programmes.

The initiative caters for the needs of all participants in an inclusive, supportive environment, led by volunteers. The All Stars Programme is player centred with a focus on physical literacy and offers a sense of belonging to all.

Athlone GAA launched their third annual All Star programme on Saturday, June 6.

"Despite the wet weather, spirits certainly weren't dampened, with plenty of smiles, fun and energy on display. A huge well done to all the children who took part, and as always, a massive thank you to our fantastic volunteers who make these sessions possible."

A statement by Garrycastle GAA said the launch of the programme on Sunday, June 7, marked "a truly special and meaningful day for the club".

"This fantastic initiative gives us the opportunity to open our doors even wider and provide football to children with additional needs in a safe, supportive and non-competitive environment, where everyone can take part, have fun and feel included.

The focus of the programme is simple but powerful—participation, enjoyment and belonging. Days like this highlight exactly what our club is all about: community, inclusion and creating opportunities for everyone to enjoy Gaelic games.

"It’s a wonderful opportunity for children to take part in football, make friends and be part of our club in a way that suits them."
