Drumraney resident's book launched in Mullingar
A Drumraney resident launched a new book 'Dear Precious Being' at Belvedere House and Gardens in Mullingar recently. The book was written by Christine Moran formerly Earley and Gorman from Gaybrook outside Mullingar. Described by the publishers as a wonderful book of spiritual affirmations, Dear Precious Beings crosses between spirituality, religion and the self. It includes a series of very personal letters writing to a precious being which affirm what it is to live this life. Over one hundred and twenty people from all parts of the country attended the launch. Niall McEllwee, from Book Hub Publishing House introduced the book and author. Local historian and mayor of Mullingar, Ruth Illingworth officially launched the book and spoke of the book's honest sharing of everyday struggles and celebrations. There were readings from the book which included creative expression through movement, a letter of loss to a dead mother, a celebration of wonderful wild women, collecting wild flowers, a ritual of togetherness, and a poem about ancient stone. Christine Moran said: "The book, Dear Precious Being is an acknowledgement of the beauty, value, and vulnerability of each human being. It also recognises the mystery of the human spirit, the soulfulness of each person's journey through life. It encourages and invites the reader to think about what is important in life, and provokes reflection on customs and rituals which support values, belief systems and attitudes towards self, others and the environment. The reader is invited to celebrate and participate in their life stages and transitions. Most of all it reminds us of our humanity and limitations and of our immeasurable value and self worth and wonder." Dear Precious Being is available at all Easons shops and independent bookstores and retails at €10. Also available from the publisher Book Hub at www.bookhub4u.ie. A signed copy is available by emailing info@newbeginnings.ie. The proceeds of the book goes to support New Beginnings Counselling Service Ltd offered by Christine and her husband Tom Moran.
