O'Brien's Service Station is honoured at Maxol retail awards

Kevin O'Brien, who runs O'Brien's Maxol service station in Athlone, was a big winner at the recent Maxol Annual Retail Awards, which recognises the Maxol stations that performed best in 2009. O'Brien's Service Station performed particularly well, taking home two awards on the day; 'Top Customer Care Retailer' and joint first prize in the 'Staff Team Awards'. Both awards were in the dealer-owned sites category. The Award ceremony took place in Athlone, Westmeath, and was one of the highlights of Maxol's Annual Retailers' Conference. Commenting on Kevin's excellent performance at the Awards Brian Donaldson, General Manager, Marketing & Retail - Maxol, said: "Congratulations to Kevin and his team for winning the 'Top Customer Care Retailer' award and also sharing the 'Staff Team' award. This is a really great achievement and one of which they can all be extremely proud. The awards scheme was originally developed in 1992 to ensure that customers can expect the best from Maxol, including quality retailing and premium customer care. Given the current challenging economic climate with which we are faced, it is more important than ever to maintain such high standards and we are therefore extremely pleased to see that O'Brien's Service Station has performed particularly well throughout the year." Maxol's Annual Retail Awards scheme promotes and recognises excellence in retail standards and customer care throughout its entire network of service stations. Under the judging criteria all competing service stations are assessed for forecourt, car wash, shop and toilet standards (dealer categories are assessed for forecourt and toilet standards only). All award winners were announced at the recent Maxol Annual Retailers' Conference in Athlone, which brings together Maxol service station retailers from all across Ireland to discuss the key developments in the marketplace. Among the topics on the agenda were Maxol's continued growth, both financially and in terms of service station numbers.
