Local business man heads up Midlands Chamber

The Midlands Chamber held its AGM last week which saw Paul O'Reilly from ORS in Mullingar appointed as the fourth president of the organisation. The Presidency of the Midlands Gateway Chamber rotates each year between the towns of Athlone, Tullamore and Mullingar. A business man in Mullingar, Paul O'Reilly co-founded engineering firm ORS in 1991. Paul was President of Mullingar Chamber from 2000 to 2002 and has both the experience and expertise to drive forward the goals and objectives of the Midlands Gateway Chamber. The out-going President of the Midlands Gateway Chamber, Dominic Doheny, was commended by Professor Ciarán " Catháin for his commitment and dedication to the organisation over the past twelve months. Prof " Catháin said: "I want to congratulate Dominic on his very successful year as President of the Midlands Gateway Chamber. The work he has achieved in the last twelve months has been felt by the business community around the Midlands." Dominic Doheny said: "It has been a real honour and privilege to serve as President of a great organisation. The Midlands Gateway Chamber is of real value to the business community in the Midlands region and I have thoroughly enjoyed my year as President. Dominic used the opportunity to wish his successor the best. Paul O'Reilly set out his stall for the year as President of the Midlands Gateway Chamber. He said: "In the coming year the Midlands Gateway Chamber will continue to work on the projects such as the new brand which is being developed by the Implementation Forum and the Midlands Gateway Chamber under the direction of Jackie Gorman, the continued development of the business leaders forum which is being directed by Seamus Sheerin, the energy competition and researching the development of a cycle route between the 3 towns of Athlone, Tullamore and Mullingar. I believe that there is a huge future for the development of alternative energy and for us, the energy competition is a stepping stone to promoting the Midlands region as a centre of excellence for alternative energy."
