ADSL season launched as academy squads are acclaimed

The 2009/1010 ADSL Season was launched in fine style last week at a function in the Shamrock Lodge by the Mayor of Athlone, Cllr. Mark Cooney. The very large attendance heard how this ADSL season will see 92 teams in 11 divisions in 6 age groups, together with a soon to be announced under-8 league, which will see the ADSL as the largest sporting organisation in Athlone. The ADSL this season will also field representative sides at ages for under-12, U13, U14, U15 and U16 and will organise a third year of dedicated Development Academies for ages under-10, U11, U12, U15 and U14. The ADSL will also host the third edition of the already very successful indoor Futsal Tournament. The Town Mayor wished all the participating teams and players well and commended the many volunteer officials, coaches and managers who make the ADSL the success it continues to be. Presentations were also made on the night to the 2009 Kennedy Cup Squad and to the successful ADSL Academy under-11 and under-12 sides who enjoyed such spectacular success at the Welsh Super Cup and the Galway Umbro Cup over the summer. All in all it was a great night and a great way to start the new season. Congratulations The ADSL extends congratulations to nine members of the 2009 Kennedy Cup Squad who have been selected by the FAI for the Regional Emerging Talent Programme.
