Gala album launch for Moate singer
Country star Rosie Flanagan launches her new album with a gala dance and fundraiser for Moate Social Services on October 11 next in The Well, Moate. A great night is promised with artists like John Hogan, Simon Casey, Lorraine McDonald, Carmel McLaughlin all taking to the stage on the night, along with Trevor Moyles, Carmel Sheerin, Sophie Flanagan, The Lols, The Sheerin Family Country Band and The Carley Sisters, to name but a few and there will be plenty of surprises on the night. Admission is just €10. MC for the night is Midlands 103 Joe Cooney and Tom Curtin. Already a big star in the country scene and is destined for big thing in years to come, Rosie Flanagan, née Lynam hails from Moate but now lives in Offaly. She first came to national attention after appearing on the popular show TG4 show Glór Tíre. Her polished performances brought her to the attention of new fans in all four provinces of Ireland and further afield as well. The fantastic reaction to her performances on Glór Tíre gave Rosie the confidence and ambition to record her first album A Country Rose. Since then, she has performed with stars such as Robert Mizzell, Mike Denver, Jimmy Buckley and many more country artists in Ireland. Earlier this year she had a three-day tour of Scotland and performed in one of Ireland's biggest country festivals in Letterkenny, Co Donegal. The Moate native has recorded and produced two videos for Hot Country and The Phil Mc Show, both of which air on SKY TV 201. "Country music has always been a part of my life and its great to have a chance to work at something I love so much. I hope people enjoy the collection of songs on my new album as much as I enjoyed recording them," Rosie enthused this week ahead of her album launch on Tuesday, October 11 next in The Well, Moate. The album Hearts Are Dancing features a nice mix of traditional Irish style songs as well as other country favourites. Her daughter features on the My Connemara Marble Ring track on the album, some of which was recorded in Nashville and the remainder in Shed Studios with Des Sheerin on production.
