Minister urged to intervene on M6 signage
Cllr John Naughten has called on the Minister for Transport to intervene with the National Roads Authority to allow local signage on the new M6 in South Roscommon. "Businesses in the area between Athlone and Ballinasloe are suffering because of a lack of signage for local businesses, community and tourist destinations," stated Cllr Naughten. "I am now calling on the Minister for Transport, Noel Dempsey, to intervene with the NRA to allow some form of signage to be erected at exits 13 and 14 to support those affected in South Roscommon. "This is the longest stretch of motorway between Dublin and Galway with no exit located in between and many businesses and amenities in the area need this signage to ensure their survival." The matter will also be raised by Cllr Naughten at the next meeting of Roscommon County Council.
