Benefit night for Monksland resident Eamon Fallon

A benefit night is taking place in Athlone tomorrow (Thursday) in support of a local resident who is seriously ill with cancer.

Eamon Fallon, a married father of three originally from Taughmaconnell but now living in Monksland, received his diagnosis just one month ago. A tradesman by profession, Eamon is married to Geraldine who is involved with the Active Age group in Monksland.

A benefit night for Eamon has been organised and will get underway at 9pm tomorrow in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel. Country music star Olivia Douglas (pictured) will be performing on the night, and DJ Aidan Higgins will also be appearing.

Former Garda PJ Shanagher is chairman of the event's organising committee.

PJ said there had a great response locally, with people coming forward with donations of spot prizes and other offers of support.

“There is an awful lot of goodwill out there. So many families have been affected by cancer,” he said.

The Active Age group, the Lecarrow Benevolent Fund, and Paddy McCaul in the Shamrock Lodge are among those who have been supporting and assisting with the event, PJ said.

Admission to the benefit night is just €10, and this can be paid on the door.
