Bogus tradesmen calling to council estates in Athlone

Bogus tradesmen have been calling to Council estates in the Athlone area, Westmeath County Council has warned.

The local authoritiy said the scam is being carried out by people who claim to be from the Council and carrying out repairs on its behalf.

The council is urging people to request ID from any such cold callers and report them to An Garda Síochána.
