Dublin GAA star to speak at wellbeing event in Rosemount tonight

Philly McMahon, a six-time All Ireland winner with the Dublin footballers, will be in Westmeath this evening (Wednesday) to speak at a health and wellbeing seminar in Rosemount.

The event, which is being organised by Rosemount GAA Club in conjunction with the Rosemount GAA Social Initiative, takes place in the local community centre at 7.30pm.

McMahon, a tenacious defender on the hugely successful Dublin team, released his critically-acclaimed autobiography 'The Choice' last year.

He was also featured in a recent RTE documentary 'The Hardest Hit', in which he drew from personal experience to explore the underbelly of illicit drug use and make the case for decriminalisation in Ireland.

He and other speakers at the event will be exploring topics such as health and young people, the five ways to wellbeing, and how friends can look out for friends.

The talks will be followed by a medal presentation to the Cill Óige (Rosemount/Castledaly) under-16 footballers, and light refreshments.

It's a free event and all are welcome to attend.
