Robbie Henshaw

Six Nations setback for Henshaw

Robbie Henshaw is to miss Ireland's Six Nations clash with Scotland this weekend due to an injury.

The 25-year-old Athlone man lined out in the full-back position during last Saturday's defeat to England in Dublin.

Henshaw played the full game against England, but reports emerged saying he didn't train with the Irish squad at their Carton House base in Maynooth today (Thursday).

He had been expected to be moved from full-back to centre but will now miss Saturday's game in Murrayfield. Munster’s Chris Farrell has been selected in the centre alongside Bundee Aki, with Rob Kearney at full-back.

Meanwhile, Niall Murray has retained his place in the Ireland U-20 team which faces Scotland tomorrow night (Friday) in Netherdale, Galashiels (kick-off 7.30pm).

The Buccaneers player from Brideswell was part of the Ireland team which claimed a memorable win over England in Cork last Friday night. He will again line out in the second row against the Scots.

Murray's Buccaneers colleague, Colm Reilly from Ballinasloe has been named among the replacements for the visit to Scotland.

There is also a local link to the Ireland women's team which faces Scotland in the Six Nations, with Ballinahown native Michelle Claffey selected at No. 12 for the game in Scotstoun, Glasgow on Friday (7.35pm).
