Lowe & Co to feature on RTE’s Ear to the Ground tonight

The Athlone shop Lowe & Co will feature in the popular RTE series Ear to the Ground this evening (Thursday) at 7pm.

Lowe & Co is a small shop on O'Connell Street, Athlone, which is reviving an old style of retailing, and bucking the trend towards chain stores and out-of-town malls. 

Lynda McFarland and Eddie Lowe returned from the UK to initially open a coffee shop before setting up the artisan grocery store, and they sell locally sourced products without the ubiquitous plastic packaging.

Ear to the Ground presenter Ella McSweeney visited the shop, and also some of its suppliers who are renewing a tradition in the midlands.
