Signed Dublin jersey up for auction in aid of Lough Ree RNLI

A signed Dublin football jersey is up for sale by auction - with all proceeds going to the Lough Ree RNLI.

The jersey has been signed by this year's All-Ireland title-winning Dublin squad, who captured the Sam Maguire Cup for the fourth year in a row, defeating Tyrone in the final.

It was the first time Dublin have won four All-Ireland senior football titles in a row, and the first time any county has won four on the trot since Kerry managed the feat from 1978 to 1981.

The jersey was presented to Lough Ree RNLI by Dublin footballer Conor McHugh, whose girlfriend is Lorna Mulvihill from Athlone.

McHugh played a starring role on the Dublin team which won the All-Ireland under-21 title in 2014, scoring 1-6 in the victory over Roscommon in that year's final. However, due to fierce competition for starting places, Na Fianna's McHugh has found it difficult to break into the Dublin senior team.

Bids for the jersey may be placed online on the Lough Ree RNLI Facebook page or directly to Stan Bradbury in the Custume Property premises, based on Church Street in Athlone.

The proceeds from the sale of the jersey will assist members of Lough Ree RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) in the valuable life-saving work they do on an ongoing basis.
