The Westmeath Independent organise two flagship events every year, the Sports Stars awards and the Westmeath Style Awards. The Sport Stars celebrate sporting achievements by the local community on a club, county and national level. The Westmeath Style Awards celebrate achievements of fashion & beauty realted businesses. The Westmeath Independent Sports Stars awards takes place every year highlighting the sporting achievements of individuals and team sports in and around the Westmeath Independent Circulation Area. Award winners for each of the twelve months are honoured and receive their monthly awards at the ceremony. The Overall Winner is chosen and awarded the title of Sports Person of the Year.

The inaugural Westmeath Style Awards was organised jointly by the Westmeath Independent and the Westmeath Examiner . The awards aim to celebrate local businesses in Westmeath for their style, fashion, services and contribution to the community. The gala event was hosted by the Sheraton Athlone Hotel and took place on Friday 15th May 2015. For more details on this years event please click on the image below.
