Consider a career in hairdressing with MOHH

Local girl Sandra Green from Thomastown, Ballydangan, has just completed the 14 month course and this week couldn't recommend the course highly enough. "It gave me great confidence because you're dealing with clients every day," she said. "You get great experience, you're running the salon along with the other girls, taking appointments every day." After completing her Leaving Cert Sandra then did a six month FÁS course in hairdressing, having worked part-time in a salon since the age of 15. Sandra said she had always wanted to be a hairdresser and once she completed her FÁS course she began working part-time at MOHH salon in the Hodson Bay Hotel and from there Maeve gave her a scholarship on the fulltime Classic Foundation Course at MOHH Academy. She began the course in April last year and completed it in June this year when she took up fulltime work at MOHH salon. For the past two years she has competed in the Irish Hairdressing Championships at the RDS in Dublin in the cutting and colour and long hair categories. She has been involved with fashion shows and musicals such as Hairspray and The New Pirates with the MOHH team, all of which gave her valuable experience and was thoroughly enjoyable, she said this week. "The classic course at MOHH Academy covered all aspects of hairdressing and was great experience with daily clients. We were lucky to have an abundance of hair models at the Academy to look after," said Sandra. Sandra also completed her City & Guilds, World Federation Styling and Customer Care and OMC Foundation qualifications and she has also completed five colour and cutting courses at the Alfaparf Academy in Dublin and the special precision cutting course with Jake Malone in MOHH also. She said this week that the course was definitely worthwhile and she would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone considering a career in hairdressing. So what exactly does the Classic Foundation Course at MOHH Academy involve?
