Local firms to address Midlands technology conference

A company established by three Shannonbridge brothers is to outline its success in the world of internet and applications technology at a special Midlands conference early next month. The Technology Crunch event is a unique opportunity for companies in the Midlands to connect with a host of technology providers and experts in one day. The event is a joint initiative between development agency Atlantic Corridor and Offaly County Enterprise Board and takes the form of two workshops. One of the workshops will introduce the use of smartphone apps as a business and marketing tool. This workshop is organised by Offaly County Enterprise Board and includes speakers from Enterprise Ireland, Vogue Business Development and Maithú. Maithú is an award-winning software development company that offers web and mobile software development and content creation to some of the most recognised companies in Ireland. Its CEO, Kerrill Thornhill, from Shannonbridge, will speak about how to use existing apps in your business and how to develop specific apps to drive your business and marketing strategy. The other workshop, organised by Atlantic Corridor, will provide participants with an opportunity to connect with the National Digital Research Centre in Dublin and Gangplank Arizona. The National Digital Research Centre is an investor in collaborative digital innovations based on research. It offers an investment fund, a space for teams to work, and a dedicated commercialisation team. Participants will also hear about Gangplank Arizona from its founder Derek Neighbors. Derek co-founded Gangplank, a collaborative workspace in Arizona in 2008 to help encourage technology innovators to create and develop. WPA Mobile, based in Athlone, will also speak at the workshop about their experience of developing a successful technology company in the Midlands region of Ireland. Technology Crunch takes place on Thursday November 10 in the Tullamore Court Hotel. Participants may register for both or one of the workshops and registration is free but places are strictly limited, so early registration is encouraged. Please book by emailing info@offalyceb.ie or info@atlanticcorridor.ie by Friday November 4. Please specify which workshop, or both, you are attending. Places are limited so book early.
