Military look dominates Penneys new collection

The military theme is stamped all over Penneys new looks for autumn 2010. A tight palette of khakis, camels, browns, stones, greys and black with highlights of red emphasise the military fell. The collection is full of military coats, pocket shorts, skinny combats, distressed tees, shirt dresses and crew neck knits. And the motif even extends to accessories. All the perfect bags - satchel, xbody shapes come with interesting hardware detail. There are studded leather look belts, or webbing belts in both hip and waist styles. Hats include the military cap, baker boys and slouchy beanies with fingerless leather gloves. Jewellery is mainly in khaki shades on anti-gold settings and some have gunmetal and antique silver finishes. And to top it off , there are multi-row chain necklaces and military look brooches and earrings. For footwear buckles, straps and hardware highlight and emphasise the military feeling. Much is flat and casual with the classic military boot or for an edgier look heeled peeptoes or shearling trimmed platforms. Heritage is another look which draws influences from genteel country living. Equestrian combines with rangy outdoors for stunning results. Camel, poppy red, aubergine, khaki, forest greens and browns with touches of gold - electrify this look. The key items include duffle coats, aviator jackets, pinafores, long sleeve dresses, mini kilts, maxi skirts, panelled skinny legs with leather shorts, Fairisle knits, coatigans, cable and Aran knits. Accesssories include tapestry, fur and frame bags. Belts in tan and chocolate leather look, or distressed, knotted or plaited styles. Jewellery for this Collection is wood mix necklaces and bracelets or chunky plastic bangles with embossed hoops and beaded dangle earrings. The riding boot is the key profile for this story. The Chelsea Boot detailing and heeled or flat brogues which add a modern twist. Dark tans and chocolates complement the strong colours of the clothes.
