Landmark Moate pub up for auction

Well known local hostelry The Auld Shebeen in Moate is set to go up under the hammer later this month. The popular pub and Club S night club, comes up for public auction on Thursday, November 22 next in the Creggan Court Hotel, Athlone at 4pm with a reserve of €200,000. A landmark business in Moate, the premises in the centre of Main Street had previously been offered for sale by private treaty by Property Partners Earley in Roscommon. Included in the upcoming public auction is the old world style Auld Shebeen bar with lounge area, two entrance doors and bay windows on either side covering over 1,750 square feet. Notable features include high timber ceilings, stone fireplace with gas stove and air conditioning system and separate entrance to night club Club S. Situated at the rear of the premises, the night club comprises of 4,400 square feet with a number of bars, dance floor, balcony bar area and external smoking area. There is also a commercial kitchen included in the sale with a large garden to the rear of the premises, storage sheds and residential accommodation over two floors with three bedrooms, sitting room, bathroom and office. Meanwhile, an auction of over 37 acres at Taylorstown and Creggan in Roscommon will also proceed in Athlone later this month. The sale in two lots comprises of almost 8 acres of land with a derelict cottage and 29 acres of bog. Handled by local auctioneers Downes and Sons, the public auction is earmarked for the Shamrock Lodge Hotel at 3pm on Friday, November 23 next.
