Annual Bal Walk in Ballinasloe this Sunday

The annual Bal Walk will be held Sunday, May 12 and hopes to bring the community together while raising funds for local charities. The walk is organised by Community Hearts Ballinasloe and will begin at 10 am from Gullane’s Hotel, Ballinasloe.

Community Hearts was set up to promote the community well being of the town through sporting, charitable, educational and community activities. The support which Community Hearts receives is a testament to its ongoing work on a weekly and monthly basis. The Bal Walk has built on the success of previous years and has seen a yearly increase in participation which brings in much needed funds for local charities.

This year Community Hearts has decided to support the Rosway walking Club as its chosen charity. Rosway walking club was set up in late 2006 to increase participation in outdoor activities for the East Galway/ South Roscommon area. The name Rosway was chosen on the basis that it comprised the first three letters of Roscommon and the last three letters of Galway ensuring that all sides of the border were represented. Irrespective of age or fitness level the club caters for all its members. The late Ian McKeever was guest speaker at the first AGM of the club in 2007.
