Mount Temple resident is new interim Head of RTE Radio 1

Mount Temple resident Tom McGuire has been appointed as the interim Head of RTÉ Radio 1 and will take up the appointment from Monday next, June 17.

A native of Longford, Tom, said: “It is a great honour to have been asked to step up to the role of Head of RTÉ Radio 1 on an interim basis. I look forward to working with my colleagues in continuing to provide top quality programmes on the country’s premier radio station. This summer the very best of current affairs, news, sport, music, arts, documentaries, drama and comedy will be on offer across all RTÉ Radio 1 platforms. I look forward to RTÉ Radio 1 sharing familiar and emerging voices with the large and loyal audience  in the midlands and around the country.

“From a personal point of view I am delighted to continue the Athlone connection with national radio that has been there since the establishment of the transmitter at Moydrum. I know that RTÉ Radio 1 will continue to reflect and echo the successes and concerns of communities across the country in towns, cites and in rural Ireland.”
