Local charity has Christmas special on RTÉ

A puppet theatre show produced by a local charity will be broadcast on RTÉ One this weekend.

Since 2004, the Roscommon-based charity OM Ireland has written and produced Christmas puppet theatre for primary school aged children.

Artists from around the globe have volunteered with OM over the years, and the new production features artists from Brazil, Korea and the USA.

It has been performed in 21 primary schools, 7 churches, and 2 community centres in 7 different counties over the course of 3 weeks.

“Our hope is to share the Good News of Jesus Christ in a fun and relevant way” said OM Ireland’s Creative arts Manager Junior De Larina.

The show is mainly performed in primary schools around the country, but this year, for the first time, the show will be broadcast on RTÉ One.

“The Greatest Gift of Christmas” is the tale of a furry orange monster, called Ben, who finds a mysterious Christmas parcel. Unsure if he should open it, Ben embarks on a quest that ultimately leads him to the center of the Christmas story and the greatest gift any person can receive.

The show will be aired this Sunday, December 22, at 11:10am on RTÉ One.
