Higgins to be selected as Labour's MEP candidate at Mullingar convention

The Labour party will host its selection convention for the European Parliament Midlands/North-West constituency in the Mullingar Park Hotel this Sunday (February 23).

Galway Senator Lorraine Higgins is the only candidate to go forward to the convention.

The party said there would be a contested election for nomination to the substitutes’ panel.

The Midlands/North-West constituency includes counties Westmeath, Roscommon, Longford, Offaly, Galway, Sligo, Mayo, Leitrim, Louth, Meath, Laois, Kildare, Donegal, Cavan and Monaghan.
