Spring walk series planned in Athlone

A spring walk series has been organised by Westmeath Sports Partnership in the Athlone area, kicking off next week.

The events take place every Wednesday in May with the first earmarked for Barna Bog, Mount Temple on May 7 at 10am. Organisers are stressing that the guided walk series are social/ recreational and are suitable for all abilities and fitness levels.

On May 14, the series heads for Portlick, and a week later it is the turn of strollers to enjoy the Shannon Bank Walk from the Shamrock Lodge Hotel. The final walk happens in the new Moate Amenity Park on May 28.

Participants are advised to have comfortable shoes and some rain gear so that the weather doesn’t interfere with walk plans. Walk tutors will lead each of the events and ensure participants get adequate warm up and cool down exercises.
The Spring Walk series of walks will take place every Wednesday in May, meeting at 10am each morning.
