Get into the christmas spirit this weekend

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas with lots of festive events planned this weekend. So if you feel like getting in the holiday mood or want to pick up some local Christmas presents why not check out these events:

Table Quiz
A table quiz in aid of Moate Christmas lights will be held today (Friday) in Eamon Coughlan’s at 9pm. There’s sure to be some Christmas questions thrown into the mix.

Christmas Markets
Athlone Women’s Network is organising its 2nd Christmas indoor market/jumble sale on Saturday from 11am to 5pm in St Mary’s Hall, Northgate Street, Athlone. Santa Claus will be stopping by and their will be face painting for children.
The John’s Christmas Craft Market takes place in Lecarrow on Saturday (December 6) from 9.30am until 5pm with a special appearance from Santa at 2pm. Also on Saturday a market will be held by Ferbane Tidy Towns in Ferbane from 12 noon until 6pm.

Craft Fairs
On Saturday Monksland Community Centre will hold a craft fair and sale of work from 11am until 7pm.
The Glasson Craft Fair will take place in the local Heritage Centre from 11am to 5pm on Sunday, December 7.

Sean’s Bar Christmas Market
Sean’s Bar, in association with the Midland Simon Community, hold a Christmas Market at the well known Athlone pup from 4pm until 9pm on Sunday.

Christmas Concert
The Athlone Choral Society Advent and Christmas concert will take place in St Mary’s Church of Ireland on Sunday, December 7, at 6pm. The concert promises to be a very enjoyable evening. Tickets for the concert are available from choir members and at the door at 5.30pm. Cost 10.

Santa comes to Ballykeeran
Santa is due to arrive in Ballykeeran on Sunday, December 7, at 4.30pm to switch on the Christmas lights. Carol singing on the day and gifts will be distributed afterwards to children in The Dog and Duck. All are welcome to come along and get into the Christmas spirit.
