Wacky hairdos the order of the day for student nurses

The class of second year student nurses in Athlone IT have taken part in Today FM’s Shave or Dye event, in the hope of raising €1,000 for the Irish Cancer Society.

Opting for colours best described as lurid rather than subtle, the student nurses were a striking presence on campus.

According to event organiser, Tom Nally, from Mullingar: “The Irish Cancer Society is probably something very close to all of us in nursing, as we have seen the bravery of people suffering from cancer and the unbelievable care given to them by colleagues on ward.”

Describing the response of his class-mates to Shave or Dye, Tom said it was “very enthusiastic and humbling”. Tom added that if the fundraising efforts are successful, he wants to grow the event locally.
