Deadline day for euro100 water grant

Today (Thursday) is the closing date for applying for the €100 Water Conservation Grant.

Households which registered with Irish Water on or before June 30 last are eligible to apply for the €100 grant irrespective of whether or not they paid their water bills.

According to the Government, the grant 'is intended to support households in conserving water in the home.'

The Department of Social Protection, which is administering the grant, stated that up to yesterday evening 'over 726,000 householders' had applied for the grant.

Due to the high volume of calls to the Water Conservation Grant Helpline, the Department is providing an additional phone line for people to contact it with enquiries regarding their applications for the grant.

The Helpline can be contacted at: 0761 087 890 or 021 2065880 or 1890 100 043.

The Helpline will remain open until midnight tonight and water grant applications can also be made online at www.watergrant.ie

People, who have not already received a letter from the Department inviting them to apply for the grant, or who have mislaid their letter, have until midnight to request a new letter either online at www.watergrant.ie or by calling the Helpline.
