Weather: Mini-heatwave on the way!

After an extremely cold April, we are finally set for a taste of summer!

Everyone is talking about the mini-heatwave due to arrive early next week.

According to Met Eireann, the best values will be in the midlands, with temperatures reaching highs of between 15 - 20 degrees Celsius.

There will be good spells of sunshine and a “continental air” over Ireland.

However, there are still heavy showers and thundery downpours forecast.

These will be widespread during Friday night and for a time on Saturday, but more isolated thereafter.

It will feel close and humid Friday night, while Saturday will see further showers during the morning.

Hazy sunshine and top temperatures between 16 or 17 in sunshine will arrive Saturday afternoon.

Along coastal areas you can expect some sea mist and fog.

Sunday will be very mild with good spells of hazy sunshine, and highs of 20 degrees in the sunshine.

It will remain warm and humid up to midweek, with temperatures in the high teens generally and in the low twenties in some places.

Best values in midland and western areas and it will be mostly dry and fairly sunny, but some heavy or possibly thundery showers may drift up over the country, from the south and southeast, at times.
