Five hospitalised after Brideswell crash

Five people, including two young children, have been hospitalised following an early morning crash in Brideswell.
A 23 year old man suffered serious injuries and the condition of the other four people is unknown as yet.
The incident happened on the Brideswell to Athlone Road, about one mile outside of Brideswell, at approximately 4am.
The man was the sole occupant of one car and was taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital Tullamore, where he is being treated for serious injuries.
There were two adults and two children, aged two and six, in the second car and all four were taken to Portiuncula Hospital, Ballinasloe, for treatment. Their medical condition is unknown at this time.
Gardai in Roscommon are investigating the collision. The road is currently closed to facilitate a forensic collision examination and will remain closed until lunchtime. There are local diversions in place.
