Moore Operation Transformation gets off to a flyer!

UP to 150 people, ranging in age from school children to senior citizens, turned out for the inaugural meeting of Moore Operation Transformation last night.

The co-ordinator, local nurse Laura Tully, was overwhelmed by the response and the huge turnout.

Laura outlined the group's aims and goals: to become more active, make healthier choices and work towards living longer and preventing diseases.

Noeleen Lynam, who was a leader of RTE's Operation Transformation last year, shared her personal experience and provided encouragement to members, along with tips on staying on track and making positive changes as part of their ongoing lifestyle.

Members were encouraged to set realistic goals and make small changes. They learned about the benefits of achieving a 10% loss in presenting body weight and were provided with the Operation Transformation recipes and a food diary.

The group aims to achieve at least 150 minutes of activity per week. Couch to 5K training takes place at Padraig Pearses GAA club on Thursday nights at 7pm.

The group will meet at Moore Community Hall every Monday - for six weeks - at 7pm.

Next Monday’s meeting will focus on the benefits of physical activity, exercise and sport.
