€100,000 Athlone Lottery winners come forward

A retired couple, who won €100,000 in a National Lottery millionaire raffle ticket at Dunnes Stores in Montree, Athlone over the Christmas, have collected their prize.

The winning couple from County Westmeath, who wish to keep their win private, bought their winning ticket on December 30 for the draw the following day, New Year's Eve.

The man counted his blessings after he joked that he very rarely ever buys National Lottery tickets and was still in disbelief at his massive win.

“This is very out of character for me. I was in the shop the day before the Millionaire Raffle Draw and I just decided to buy a ticket on a whim. My wife couldn’t believe I bought one as I would never usually buy a Lotto ticket. One thing is for sure, I will be playing more often in future,” he joked.

“We will enjoy the win for sure. The money gives us an extra cushion in life. We will enjoy a small break with the family before we make any real decisions on how to spend the money,” he added.

Separately, another couple picked up their winnings yesterday, after they won more than €170,000 in the Lotto Match 5 + Bonus prize last Saturday.

The retired couple from Ashbourne, Meath, also wish to keep their win private. They bought their winning normal play ticket at JR’s First Stop store in Ashbourne, on the day of the draw.

Tonight's Lotto jackpot is an estimated €4 million. Play in store, on the National Lottery App or online by 7.45pm this evening for your chance to win.
