Introducing the 2017 Westmeath Style Awards

The 2017 Westmeath Style Awards will take place on Friday May 12 in the Sheraton Athlone Hotel, it was been revealed.

Now in its third year, the awards – held jointly by the Westmeath Independent and Westmeath Examiner newspapers, in partnership with Specsavers (chief sponsors) and the Sheraton Athlone Hotel (host sponsors) – are a celebration of the local firms and individuals who make it their business to keep Westmeath’s fashion followers on trend.

Once again, there are prizes up for grabs under ten category headings: Best Fashion Boutique, Best Accessories, Best Beauty Accessories, Best Beauty Salon / Spa, Best Hair Salon, Best Interiors, Best New Business, Best Bridal, Best in Social Media, Best in Men’s Fashion and Grooming, Best Health and Fitness. All winners in these categories will be in the running for the coveted Overall Excellence in Style Award, which was won last year by renowned hat makers Montgomery Millinery of Mount Street, Mullingar.

Mary McGuigan, group commercial manager at Celtic Media News  – parent company of Westmeath Independent and Westmeath Examiner – is urging local entrepreneurs to enter their businesses for an award.

The event has been a huge success in its first two years, and Ms McGuigan is confident that the 2017 running of the awards will be bigger and better.

“The idea behind these awards is that people can enter for free,” Ms McGuigan added. “If they are successful and become one of the three finalists, their business will be profiled, and they will get two free tickets to the event.”

For the third year running, the main sponsors of the event will be the Specsavers branches in Mullingar and Athlone. The official launch of the 2017 awards will take place at the Sheraton Hotel, Athlone on Thursday March 2, eight weeks before the main event.

On the night, as well as the main awards, there will be a prize for the best dressed guest (the coveted Most Stylish Award), and raffles held in support of charitable cause which will be revealed in due course. Once again, the MC is TV3’s Anna Daly.

Business can enter online at www.westmeathexaminer.ie, while entry/nomination forms will also be available on Facebook or at Westmeath Independent offices and Westmeath Examiner offices in Athlone and Mullingar respectively.

Tickets for the gala night will be on sale soon.
