Sex offenders rented Castledaly home

Families with young children in the rural south Westmeath area of Castledaly were shocked to learn that two convicted sex offenders were living in the area.

Alexis Gusto (26) also known as Jason Lydiard — is on the Sex Offenders Register in Northern Ireland and is currently banned from working with children.

James White (46) has previous convictions for buggery and sexual assault on a teenage boy.

The two are understood to have rented a house near Castledaly from an unsuspecting local man for a very brief period of time last week.

Local Gardai were contacted by concerned locals who recognised the two men, and they were quickly moved on.

The Westmeath Independent understands that the duo were briefly living in Castledaly, but were evicted from the house and are no longer in the region despite local reports to the contrary.

However, parents are being urged to remain vigilant and to immediately report any suspicious sightings or activity to their nearest Garda Station.
